We went down to Portland for Spring Break and things were going great until Wednesday April 1st! Sarah had offered an award to the kid who slept in the longest, I thought that was a cool idea but that there was no way that Abby would win that... I spoke too soon and started to be concerned when Abby was the lat one sleeping. No matter what time she goes to sleep, it is impossible for her to sleep past 7:30 am. When I went in to wake her up (8:30/9:00 am, she still wanted to sleep some more. I was worried that she might be sick so I helped her to the bath tub. It was when we got in the bath that I was realizing that it might be more than a little sickness. I asked her to tell me the alphabet and she would just repeat "ABCD, ABCDE". Then I asked her what her name was and she said "ABCD". And she kept doing these big splashes like Natalie does in the bath tub and was dosing off in the bathtub. Let me just tell you that I was FREAKED out. I got her out of the tub, brought her to my sister and told her to help me figure this out.... then I went downstairs and cried. She was acting like she was autistic! I was on the phone with my insurance while Beth and Sarah worked with Abby. The good thing was that she started improving and we started to see the normal Abby. We went to the doctor and the only conclusion we could reach was that she had had a seizure. I guess after you have a seizure that you enter a stage of confusion. Ahhhhhhh..... that was HORRIBLE!!! I told Beth and Sarah that I was glad they were there to witness this because it was crazy to say the least. It puts things inperspective and it was awesome to see Abby's whininess and sassiness come back!!
Did you get her to the Dr. when you got home?
ReplyDeleteEeee! Let's hope it was just a one-time thing.
ReplyDeleteWow. I'm sorry to hear about Abby having a seizure. I'm glad she's okay. I can't believe how much she looks like you!
ReplyDeleteYou missed the important parts! She said that she was three years old and that she was turning 5 on her birthday. She didn't know how to read all of a sudden and couldn't count to 3. It was very scary to see her basically shut off like that.
