The Veatch Privelage Ladder

We are trying a new discipline tool. I found this idea online. Instead of yelling, time outs, etc..., all we do is tell the girls they have to move their fairy up or down the ladder depending on if it is good or bad behavior and every rung has privileges associated with it. The ladder is cumulative, so they have all of the privileges below their rung too.
PRIVELAGES

Rung 1: Chores and thinking time (7 pm bedtime)

Rung 2: Read books and school work (7 pm bedtime)

Rung 3: Board games and drawing (7 pm bedtime)

Rung 4: Play with toys quietly in room (7 pm bedtime)

Rung 5: Outside playtime (7 pm bedtime)

Rung 6: TV and music in rooms (8 pm bedtime)

Rung 7: Play on computer (8 pm bedtime)

Rung 8: Play Wii and friends (8 pm bedtime)

Rung 9: Ride bikes and scooters (9 pm bedtime)

Rung 10: Full privileges; including overnight visits and special events (9 pm bedtime)

  1. Dang....I was hoping to copy your levels, but my kids enjoy doing the lower levels too much. I guess I might have to rework it.

  3. It seems to be going really well, the girls seem to respond to the idea of losing their privelages vs. time out, yelling and sending to their rooms.

  4. I made it out of an old piece of moulding that we had in the garage. I wanted it to be cute on my wall.

I read this and then changed it a little and designed my ladder.

  5. I don't think we can stick with the same levels as you. But it's a good idea. Hmmmm. What would a three year old respond to?
